Abstract

This study explores the beauty of linguistic derivation in Kitāb Faḍāʾil al-Qurʾān (The Book of the Virtues of the Qur’an) from Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī. The research highlights how derivation, as one of the most significant features of Arabic morphology, enriches the Qur’anic discourse and deepens its expressive power. Through examining selected traditions, the study demonstrates how the Prophet’s sayings employ derived forms to convey precision, eloquence, and diversity of meaning. The analysis reveals that linguistic derivation not only enhances clarity but also reflects the richness and flexibility of the Arabic language, allowing multiple shades of meaning within a single root. Furthermore, it emphasizes the role of derivation in strengthening rhetorical impact, reinforcing thematic coherence, and fostering a deeper spiritual appreciation of the Qur’an. The findings conclude that the artful use of derivation in Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī represents a unique intersection of linguistic beauty and religious significance, offering valuable insights into the interplay between language, meaning, and faith.
