While Al-Bahath operates primarily as an Open Access electronic journal, the journal recognizes the necessity of high-quality physical print editions for library archives, institutional subscribers, author records, and legal deposit requirements. Al-Bahath enforces strict print production standards to guarantee that physical volumes mirror the integrity and quality of the digital Version of Record.
Annual/Semi-Annual Compiled Volumes: Bound hard-copy editions containing full volumes or issues compiled for university libraries and subscribing research centers.
Author Offprints & Reprints: High-resolution physical paper copies of individual articles available to authors upon request.
Legal Deposit & Archival Copies: Mandatory print deposits submitted to national libraries and repository institutions.
| Feature | Production Standard |
| Paper Quality | ISO 9706 compliant acid-free archival paper (guarantees a 100+ year shelf life without yellowing). |
| Color Calibration | CMYK print optimization for charts, figures, and high-resolution diagrams (minimum 300 DPI). |
| Binding Standard | Perfect binding with reinforced spine for compiled issues; saddle-stitch for short offprints. |
| ISSN Alignment | Distinct physical Print ISSN (p-ISSN) alongside the electronic ISSN (e-ISSN). |
| Environmental Standard | Printed using FSC-certified (Forest Stewardship Council) paper and eco-friendly soy-based inks. |
The final typeset PDF (Version of Record) undergoes print pre-flight checks to ensure image resolution, vector formatting, font embedding, and bleed margins meet physical press standards.
Issues are printed via eco-friendly Print-on-Demand (POD) partners or scheduled institutional print runs.
Physical copies undergo spot inspection for binding durability, color accurate rendering, page sequence integrity, and spine labeling.
Copies are dispatched directly to institutional subscribers, requesting authors, and national legal deposit repositories via tracked shipping.
Note on Open Access: Purchasing a print copy does not grant exclusive rights to the text. The content of both print and digital versions remains open under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0).
Author Offprints: Authors can order bulk print offprints of their individual articles at the time of proof approval for a nominal printing and shipping fee.
Institutional Print Subscriptions: Libraries and institutions can subscribe to annual printed volumes. Subscriptions cover cost-of-production and international courier shipping.
Print Discrepancies Policy: In the rare event of a printing defect or missing pages, replacement hard copies are issued free of charge within 30 days of notice.
