Abstract

The article entitled: comparison between translations of the meanings of the Holy Qur’an by Human and artificial intelligence for the first volume of Holy Quran is a comprehensive study of Qur’anic and rest of Islamic studies. The article aims to put an answer of the key question: Can artificial intelligence tools compete with human efforts regarding translations of the meanings of Holy Quran, whether these artificial tools may put translations of the meanings of Holy Quran accurately and faithfully? And how it can be possible or not?. The article aims to put reliable criteria of comparison among translations of the meanings of Holy Qur’an by both sides. The article presents a comparative analysis, method of translation samples, including some authentic human translations and translations produced by artificial intelligence tools like as: ChatGPT, Google Translate etc .As concerned the criteria of comparison. The article presents comparison analyzing linguistic accuracy, capability of conveying emotions, handling similarities, using footnotes, and consistency of the meanings of Holy Quran.

It has cleared that translations of the meanings of Holy Quran by Human excelled in: deep understanding of context and Quranic intentions, handling multiple meanings, preserving emotions and spiritual dimensions, conveying idiomatic expressions, and the ability to exercise judgment in weighing different opinions. Translations of the meanings of Holy Quran demands: fast processing speed, terminological consistency, grammatical accuracy, and the ability to handle massive texts and provide instant translations in multiple languages. Main limitations: A translator has to suffer from semantic flattening, lack of interpretative depth, disregard for doctrinal background, and a clear weakness in conveying legal and religious terms and figurative expressions during the function of translation. The study confirms that AI translations, in their current state, cannot replace human- translations in a sacred text like the Quran, due to their lack of spiritual insight, emotional experience, and purposive understanding that a qualified human translator possesses. The study recommends for translators of both sides to adopt a collaborative and integrative approach, using artificial intelligence as a primary assisting tool, with its outputs subjected to specialized human review and scrutiny, training the systems on reliable sources, and developing hybrid models that combine machine translation with human interpretive explanations
