This study examines the representation of nature in the poetry of al-Khansāʾ, highlighting its artistic, psychological, and symbolic dimensions. It explores how natural elements such as the night and stars, mountains and fire, the sun and the passage of time, and wind, rain, and tears are employed to express the poet's profound emotions, particularly grief, longing, and loyalty in her elegies.
Using a descriptive and analytical approach, the study analyzes selected poetic texts to demonstrate that nature in al-Khansāʾ’s poetry is not merely a decorative background, but an expressive medium closely connected to her inner experience. The study further shows that the Arabian desert environment played a significant role in shaping her poetic imagery and enriching its artistic and emotional significance. It concludes that the integration of natural imagery with human emotion is one of the distinctive features that has secured al-Khansāʾ a prominent place in classical Arabic literature.
